Dressage rider Patrik Kittel has been welcomed to the "Active Committee" of the Swedish Olympic Committee.
He is one of seven athletes representatives from various sports on the committee.
"Active Committee"
At every Olympic Games the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOK) renews its "Active Committee".
During the Paris Games three new representatives have taken a seat on that committee. They are equestrian athlete Patrik Kittel, Simon Pettersson for athletics, and Jonna Alderteg for gymnastics.`
They are replacing chair Mattias Andersson (handball), who has served the maximum period of eight years within the committee, as well as Carolina Klüft (athletics) and Anna Laurell Nash (boxing).
"It has been eight intense and fun years with the Active Committee," said Mattias Andersson in the official press release. "We have had many good and interesting meetings both within the committee, with SOK and with active members. It is an important job where, in collaboration with SOK, we work for the good of the athletes. The more we get involved, the more influence the athletes get through the committee."
SOK and Athletes
The committee's purpose is to protect the interests of those active within SOK.
As a four-time Olympian Patrik Kittel is joined on the committee by:
Stina Gardell, swimming (re-election)
Simon Pettersson, athletics (new election)
Jonna Adlerteg, gymnastics (new election)
Maria Pietilä Holmner, alpine skiing
Christoffer Sundgren, curling
Moa Ilar, cross-country skiing
Their first meeting will be in the autumn.
