Germany's most decorated equestrian Olympian, Isabell Werth, has become the recipient of the Pegasos Prize, a German award for "Legends of Sport."
She received the trophy at the 42nd German Sport Press Ball at the old opera house in Frankfurt on 10 November 2024.
"I was very moved by this award and the appreciation that came with it. I feel truly honored," Werth took to Instagram. "
The Award gala is organized by the Association of German Sports Journalists, the Frankfurt Sports Press Association and the communications agency Letropress presseagentur, headed by managing director Jörg Müller.
The white and gold trophy of a winged horse is made out of Meissen porcelain. The Pegasos prize has been bestowed upon German athletes since 2007. Previous recipients are: Gerd Müller (posthumously), Reinhold Messner (mountaineer), Michael Schumacher, Katarina Witt, Franz Beckenbauer, Oliver Kahn, and Boris Becker amongst others.
"It was a glamorous and special evening in every respect in the company of great athletes. The motto of the ball, “Merci Paris”, is a wonderful way to end this Olympic year," Werth continued.
Isabell was dressed in an outfit designed and created by Marie Linsenhoff, who recently established her own fashion brand "Haus Linsenhoff".
