Tubman Dressage is thrilled to announce the addition of the distinguished stallion Barton VDL to their elite training program and as a horse with top potential for the international ring for Sarah Tubman.
Barton VDL
Barton VDL, a 2016 dark bay Oldenburg stallion standing 1.72 meters tall, boasts an impressive lineage. He is sired by Bordeaux, a renowned KWPN stallion celebrated for his exceptional performance and progeny. Bordeaux’s sire, United, achieved the highest score ever recorded at his stallion performance test in Ermelo, with 9.5s for trot, canter, and dressage ability. United’s pedigree includes the esteemed Grand Prix stallions Krack C and TCN Partout, both ridden by Anky van Grunsven. Bordeaux’s dam’s sire, Gribaldi, was a successful international Grand Prix horse with Edward Gal and was honored as Trakehner Stallion of the Year in 2008. This lineage is further enriched by the presence of Donnerhall, one of the most successful progenitors of Grand Prix dressage horses.
Approved by the Oldenburg Verband, Barton VDL has demonstrated exceptional promise in both breeding and sport. His dam, Honigbluete, has produced notable offspring such as Don du Ciel, approved in Mecklenburg, and Heide Spirit.
Sport Career
In the sport, Barton VDL lives up to expectations and managed to win his debut competition in all classes from Z2 to Prix-St. Georges. In the Prix-St. Georges, he is very successful with scores of over 70%. Barton won the Freestyle Festival in Wezep with an impressive score of 75.9% in the Intermediaire I freestyle.
Breeding Stallion
As a breeding stallion, Barton VDL has been highly sought after in Europe, with hundreds of offspring demonstrating his influence as a sire. Many of his foals are developing into promising young horses, with some already showing potential as stallion prospects and successful competition horses. Notably, his daughter Perlita Frank VDL scored 84 points at the IBOP in Panningen, receiving a 9 for posture and balance.
Future in the U.S.A.
With such popularity in Europe, Tubman Dressage is excited to offer this exceptional stallion to U.S. breeders, providing access to his esteemed bloodlines through frozen semen.
While Barton VDL’s primary focus will be on his development as a top sport horse under Sarah and Lee Tubman, this dual role as a competitor and breeding stallion marks an exciting chapter for Tubman Dressage.
Sarah and Lee Tubman extend their heartfelt gratitude to their clients and Barton VDL's new owners, Jessica and Jeff Friedrich of Donato Farms, and Teresa and Willard Simmons of Southern Cross Farm, for their unwavering belief in Tubman Dressage’s vision and methodology. Special thanks are also due to VDL Stud for entrusting Sarah with Barton VDL’s continued development, acknowledging the exceptional foundation laid by Vai Bruntink and Saskia van Musscher.
