Blue Hors Veneziano, the 2018 Louisdor Cup winner and 2022 Danish U25 team horse, has been sold to German Grand Prix rider Carina Scholz.
Veneziano is a 14-year old Oldenburg stallion by Vivaldi out of Fabina (by Donnerhall x Pik Bube). He is bred by Blue Hors stud.
Licensed Stallion
Veneziano first came into the spotlight at the 2012 Oldenburg Stallion Licensing in Vechta where he became the third ranked stallion in the premium ring.
He did his 35-day stallion performance test in Denmark in February 2015 and scored 8.46 points for dressage and 7.51 for show jumping. He achieved his lifetime licensing through sport.
As a breeding stallion, Veneziano stood at stud through 2024 but was briefly pulled from stud duty after he tested positive as a carrier of the WFFS gene. He returned to stand as of June 2018 but was only offered to mares who are WFFS negative. He was also not offered to breeders in 2020 when his sport career took priority, but returned on the Blue Hors roster in the spring of 2021.
Veneziano has sired three licensed sons (Valenzo, Venido, and n.n.) of which one is in German studbook 1.
Sport Career
The stallion was produced from young horse level to Grand Prix by Daniel Bachmann Andersen, who rode for Blue Hors at the time. The pair made its national show debut in 2015 and finished 10th at the 2015 Danish Young Horse Championships. A year later he was third in the consolation finals at the 2016 Danish Young Horse Championships as a 6-year old.
The chestnut moved up to Prix St Georges level in 2017 and did his first CDI in Herning at small tour level. He also went to Hagen and CDI Herning in March 2018. One month later he won the Louisdor Cup qualifier in Hagen and at the end of the year won the Louisdor Cup Finals in Frankfurt. Bachmann became the first foreign rider to win the German Developing Grand Prix horse Championships.
In the spring of 2019 the owner's daughter Agnete Kirk Thinggaard took over the ride and she debuted him nationally in September that year and rode him in his first international Grand Prix test in the 2020 CDI Wellington, scoring 64.022% in the Grand Prix and withdrawing him from next month's CDI Wellington.
Kirk Thinggaard called her show career quits after that and Veneziano was handed to Laura Kristine Thorup as her Under 25 ride. She debuted him internationally in April 2022 at the CDI Sint-Truiden, competed in Aalborg, Fluinge and Herning, before heading to the 2022 European Under 25 Championships in Pilisjaszfalu, where they were 4th in the Kur to Music and won team silver.
Veneziano then moved on to young rider Sophia Ludvigsen who showed him in one CDI, the stallion's last in his career so far, at medium level at the 2023 CDI Tolbert. A 10-month break from competition followed and the pair returned in February 2024 at a national show in Hjallerup. Three months later they showed in one more national Grand Prix class in the Ecco Cup in Kolding.
Carina Scholz
At the end of November, Veneziano sold to Fabian and Carina Scholz in Germany.
"Blue Hors Veneziano has undoubtedly left a mark on both the sport and the breeding world," Blue Hors stated. "We are excited to see how he continues to shine under the ownership of Carina Scholz, and we wish her the best of luck with this incredible stallion."
