Six German Grand Prix riders have followed the fast-track system to become a dressage judge in Germany and passed the exam on 4 December 2024.
After a successful fast-track pilot project in 2023 the German Equestrian Federation hosted a second fast track education and exam, headed by judges Nicole Nockemann and Henning Lehrmann.
In Germany to become a judge a basic test for dressage and jumping at L level is done and then one can gradually climb up the level. If the candidate has a Golden Riding Badge they can immediately start at M-level. The Fast Track is for riders who have scored at least 68 percent three times in an international Grand Prix test.
The six riders that passed the exam are Marcus Hermes, Heike Kemmer, Nicole Casper, Susan Pape, Andrea Timpe, and Hendrick Lochthowe.
"It was a lot of fun. We were a really nice group of people," Marcus Hermes told Eurodressage. "It was very interesting to see the other side, the judges' side. It helps to understand many things and it was also good to intensify the theory and rules and everything around the sport and competitions. I really appreciated it and I’m grateful that we had the chance to do it that way."
