Jantinus Naber, the KWPN Breeder of the Year in 2021, has passed away. He was 88 years old.
Together with his wife Geesje and cousin Bertus, Tinus built up a flourishing brood farm on their yard in the Drenthe hamlet of Vredenheim.
Two special mares lay at the foundation of their breeding programme: the preferent model mare Ocoba and the star preferent Fabiola.
The Naber family bred the KWPN approved stallions Foundation (by United), Nick Wimphof (by Just Wimphof), Kaiman (by Dark Pleasure), Redford (by Krack C) and Pavo Cup winner Johnny Depp (by Bordeaux).
In an obituary KWPN wrote, "That a successful stud farm is not always built up with big bags of money and expensively purchased horses, but mainly has to do with making the right choices and a long breath, Tinus proved with verve. Beautiful and strong movement was always the main goal of his breeding, a horse that could not walk was 'worthless' in Tinus' eyes. But pleasant and workable characters were also important."
