Charlott-Maria Schurmann had to say goodbye to her international Grand Prix horse, Ivar.
Ivar was an 11-year old KWPN gelding by Desperado out of Annastrade (by OO Seven x Ramiro Z). He was bred by G. Hagens-Derksen.
Amelie Kovac
Ivar was discovered by U.S based Croatian Amelie Kovac as a 3-year old in Ad Valk's barn in The Netherlands. He is a half brother to Sarah Tubman's Elvis (by Ampere x OO Seven).
Kovac shipped the horse to California where he was produced to Grand Prix level. Ivar then got shipped back to Holland to be sold.
Terhi Stegars
Finnish rider Terhi Stegars discovered Ivar in Holland in 2021 and sold to Luxembourg. Terhi bought him in partnership with her employer at the time, Claude Niedner of Contern Dressage Center, where Stegars worked as head rider.
Ivar was acquired with the 2024 Paris Olympics in mind and Stegars established the horse at Grand Prix level. In March 2023 Stegars left Contern for Austria and she sold her share to Niedner.
Charlott Schürmann
Ivar was allocated to German Charlott-Maria Schürmann, who was also riding Life Time for the owner.
Ivar became the second Grand Prix horse that Charlott-Maria Schürmann competed at international big tour level in her career. Burlington was her first.
The new duo premiered in April 2023 at S*** level in Elmlohe and she continued to ride some national shows to confirm him at Grand Prix level. They competed on the 2023 Louisdor Cup show circuit. The pair made its international show debut at the CDI Munich in May 2024 where they posted 70.391% in the Grand Prix for third place and 69.830% in the Special for fourth place.
Munich became Ivar's last show. Unfortunately the bay gelding foundered in June and despite all veterinary efforts he could not be saved.
