Luxembourg Grand Prix team rider Mathis Goerens had to say goodbye to his rising Grand Prix horse Flash Gordon. The owner decided to move the horse to Denmark.
Flash Gordon is an 11-year old Oldenburg gelding by Fiderbach out of Waldessa (by Don Romantic x Figaro). He is bred by Jan Lueder Cornelius.
String of Riders
The tall chestnut has had a string of riders in his career.
He made his show debut as a 3-year old in 2017 under Heike Osterkamp. Half a year later it was Ann-Kathrin Osterkamp who took over and in 2019 it was Stefanie Hein who campaigned him from A to M level.
Owned by Nina Rathjens, Flash Gordon was competed first by his owner in 2020 at L-level. In 2021 Hein was back onboard but by the end of the year Holga Finken took place in the saddle and rode him in the Nurnberger Burgpokal qualifier in Hagen in 2022. In the summer of 2022 Rathjens showed him at small tour level and premiered him internationally in the smal tour at the 2022 CDI Randbol. She showed him through May 2023.
Mathis Goerens
By the end of 2023 Flash Gordon moved to the German based stable of Mathis Goerens.
He premiered the horse at a local show in Osterholz in December 2023 in the Intermediaire II. In 2024 Goerens focused on the Louisdor Cup qualifiers and rode him in Hagen, Loxstedt, Elmlohe and Pinneberg. Their last show was in Guxhagen in October 2024.
Off to Denmark
Owner Rathjens has decided to end the collaboration with Goerens and has moved the horse to Denmark. He is now with Daniel Bachmann Andersen.
"He developed so nicely the last weeks," Goerens told Eurodressage. "It would have been a nice opportunity to compete (him) for Luxembourg, but that’s life."
