Susan "Sue" Hobson has made the call to stand down as the Dressage Discipline Chair for the New Zealand Equestrian Federation (ESNZ).
"This was not an easy decision for Sue who wishes to be able to spend more time judging nationally and internationally, continuing her role as Horse Sport Technology (AUS) liaison and organisation of Oceania judges online education, and being involved in the national judges education programmes," ESNZ stated.
Her passion for the sport is still strong and the Dressage NZ Board and members wish her well and look forward to Sue’s continued involvement.
Sue’s involvement and commitment to Dressage and ESNZ has spanned more than four decades to date.
As a rider she represented NZL in Australia at Grand Prix level, in NZL FEI Dressage World Challenge teams and always a regular competitor at events throughout NZ
Her involvement in Dressage governance and management and officiating has been very diverse including Finance Officer, Judges Officer and Chair, FEI 4* International Judge and as a sponsor for thirty-three years with husband Brian through their company Hobson Horsecoaches, being one of the original sponsors of what is now the Super 5 League.
Sarah Hazlewood (Vice Chair & Finance Officer) has stepped up as Acting Chair in the interim until conference in June 2025 when a new Chair will be elected.
