Klosterhof Medingen's breeding stallion Damaschino has begun a new chapter in his life as a junior rider's schoolmaster for a German pony rider.
Damaschino is a 9-year old Hanoverian stallion by Danone I out of Feine Dame (by Fidertanz x Caprimond). He is bred by Burkhard Wahler
Licensed Stallion
The chestnut was licensed at the 2018 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing in Verden and later on approved for Oldenburg and Westfalen.
He did his 14-day suitability test in April 2019 and scored 8.75 for dressage and 7.33 for show jumping to finish on a total of 8.35 points. In the autumn of 2019 he did the 50-day performance test in Schlieckau and got 9.35 for dressage. He achieved his lifetime licence through sport.
In 2020 he became the recipient of the 2020 Weltmeyer Prize.
Damaschino has sired three licensed sons so far (Danubio, Davidoff, Donaldson) and three state premium daughters.
Bundeschampion
Hannah Laser trained and competed Damaschino as a young horse. They were the 2019 Hanoverian reserve young horse champions and won the 2019 Bundeschampionate. In 2020 there was silver at the Bundeschampionate and in 2021 they finished sixth at the World Young Horse Championships in Verden. Damaschino's last show under Laser was in May 2023 at M** level.
Almost two years later the stallion made a competition come back under Jacob Schenk, showing at S-level in Medingen in June 2024. One month later he did another S-level test in Neustadt/Dosse. That was the horse's last show so far.
Junior Riders' Horse
The Wahler family announced that Damaschino has sold as a junior rider's horse for German pony rider Lena Henkel. The stallion moved into the stable of Henkel's trainer Tessa Frank.
"We are overjoyed that Damaschino will be cared for, loved and supported by this dream team from now on! We couldn't imagine a better place for him," said Wahler.
Henkel has been competing at novice level since 2020, starting on ponies. Her first serious show pony was Hilkens Mirage (by Cartier de Deluxe x Arts Dancer Boy), after which PAV Timm Thaler (by PAV Talisman x Nico the Champ) came. Lena has also been doing a bit of show jumping on Irish sport horse Cillmhuire Cello (pedigree unknown).
Her mom Marina Henkel owns the 9-year old Funrise FRH (by Flanell x Bretton Woods) which Tessa Frank has been competing at small tour level since 2021, and the 11-year old Holsteiner mare Lavaletta (by Casall x Lavaletto) shown at Grand Prix level.
