Laura Tomlinson has passed on the ride on her internationally competed Grand Prix horse Fallatijn to British young rider Sophie Wallace.

Fallatijn is a 15-year old Dutch warmblood gelding by Vivaldi out of Utraginia van Kairos (by Cabochon x Caritas). He is bred by J. Damen in Liessel, The Netherlands.

Fallatijn van Kairos

Originally named Fallatijn van Kairos, the chestnut was purchased as an unbroken 3-year old by Dutch professional Theo Hanzon.

Fallatijn van Kairos was rejected by the KWPN stallion licensing committee, but accepted for breeding by the AES studbook.

Hanzon and Fallatijn earned bronze at the 2014 Dutch Young Horse Championships in the 4-year old division and won gold at the 2015 Dutch Young Horse Championships in the 5-year old division. That same year he was in the running for the World Championship team selection but was named reserve.  Hanzon made his CDI debut on the chestnut in Perl in September 2015 placing fourth in the 5-year old classes.

In August 2016 Hanzon sold Fallatijn to Wilfried and Ursula Bechtolsheimer for their daughter Laura to ride.

The pair made its show debut in the U.K. a year after purchase at Advanced Medium level at Summerhouse in July 2017. He moved to small tour level in 2018 and did his first Intermediaire II test in July 2020 at Hunters.

Their international big tour debut was at the 2021 CDI Opglabbeek, where they posted 69.826% in the Grand Prix. CDI's in Wellington Heckfield, Herzlake, Deauville and Donaueschingen followed that year.

In 2022 they campaigned in Opglabbeek, Hagen and Aachen and were able to pull their Grand Prix score up to a 72.717% high score with 73.617% in the Special. They finished 2022 in Keysoe.

Their last season at international shows was in 2023 with starts in Amsterdam, 's Hertogenbosch, Hagen, Windsor, Wellington Heckfield and Aachen but the scores did not remain consistently over 70%. Aachen was their last competition as a pair

The tall chestnut gelding has now been leased to British young rider Sophie Wallace.

Wallace and Rosalie B at the 2022 EUJRC
Wallace is a familiar face to the Bechtolsheiler-Tomlinson family as in 2022 she rode Laura's former Grand Prix horse Rosalie B on the British team for the 2022 European Junior Riders Championships with a 12th place in the Kur finals. The Wallace family also bought the Bechtolsheimer's home-bred Oldenburg First Light (by Furstenball x Don Davidoff) which Sophie competed at international junior level in 2023 and 2024.

As Wallace aged out of the junior division, she has made the transition to Young Riders level with Fallatijn.

"I have just started leasing Finn and really enjoying getting to know him," Sophie told Eurodressage.

The pair made its show debut at a schooling show at Cricklands at Mount Ballan on 19 March 2025, posting 72% in the YR team test.
