
German dressage rider Carina Scholz has swapped Tarantino for Soiree d'Amour as her ride at the 2025 World Cup Finals in Basel.
Scholz is one of three German riders competing at the Finals which begin on Friday 4 April 2025. She qualified two horses through the Western European League, finishing in fifth place
Aboard her own 18-year old Hanoverian Tarantino (by Toronto x Carbid) she showed in the World Cup qualifiers of Herning, Stuttgart, Madrud and Basel between October 2024 and January 2025. Tarantino made his come back to sport after a two-year break due to injury between 2022 and 2024. In the spring he showed form at the CDI's in Hagen, Wiesbaden, Rotterdam and Falsterbo.
Aboard Birgit Kalvelage's 16-year old Oldenburg mare Soiree d'Amoir (by San Amour x Latimer) she showed in Wroclaw in October 2024 and Neumunster in February 2025.
Scholz had originally declared to ride Tarantino at the2025 World Cup Finals in Basel, but ended up taking Soiree d'Amour to Switzerland. The pair had its first ring familiarisation in the St. Jakobshalle.
"Both horses are qualified and both horses felt amazing in the training," Carina told Eurodressage. "We decided to compete Soirée this weekend."
The 2025 World Cup Finals kick off on Friday with the Grand Prix at 13h30 and the Grand Prix Kur to Music at 19h30.
