Blue Hors stud has announced that St. Schufro, one of its principle dressage breeding stallions and international Grand Prix horses, is on a break after sustaining a minor injury.

Blue Hors St. Schufro is an 14-year old Hanoverian by St. Moritz Junior out of Dorina (by Blue Hors Don Schufro). He is bred by Joachim Wahlers.  The premium stallion was bought by Blue Hors stud for 580,000 euro at the 2013 Hanoverian stallion licensing.

Sport and Breeding Career

As a 4-year-old, he was approved for life and named champion stallion at the 2015 Danish Warmblood Licensing in Herning after he scored 864.5 points in the Danish 35-day stallion performance test in 2014. Under  Allan Grøn, the black stallion qualified for the 2015 and 2016 Danish young horse championships, but did not compete in the Finals. In 2017, however, he was fifth in the 6-year old finals at the Nationals.

Nanna Merrald took over ride and made a winning small tour debut in 2019 and moved to international Grand Prix level in 2021. The pair has competed regularly at GP level between 2022 and 2025 with several World Cup and Nations Cup starts.

St. Schufro has been shown slightly less as he combined an active breeding career, which sparked to another level after offspring Lyngbjergs St. Paris became the 2022 World Young Horse Champion and Danish young horse champion.

Short Break

"Blue Hors St. Schufro sustained a minor injury over the weekend while out in the field. Fortunately, our veterinarian is very optimistic, and we expect him to make a quick and full recovery," Blue Hors stated.

"To give him the best possible conditions to heal, St. Schufro will be taking it easy over the coming weeks. This means he will not be available with fresh semen for the next two weeks, after which we will reevaluate his condition together with our veterinarian."
