Ten Horses Participate in First Belgian WCYH Selection Trial of 2025

Eleven horses were entered and ten participated in the first Belgian team selection trial for the 2025 World Championships for young dressage horses. 

Four 5-year olds, thre 6-year olds, and four 7-year olds were entered at the trial in Vrasene on 25 June 2025. 

According to the WBFSH rules each country should send their home bred horses first, which means that for Belgium the Belgian Warmbloods (BWP) and SBS registered horses are in the running. 

In order to participate in the trials, horses had to achieve a National Minimum Eligibilty Requirement (NMER) of 78% internationally (5/6-YO) and 73% (7-YO) at either a CDN or CDI, before the first selection trial.

Jonas Schaekers and 5-year old Una Mattina van het Bloemehof (BWP, by Maracana) were on the participants list but didnt show up as they hadn’t achieved their NMER. 

The participants for the first trial, which was judged by Michele Bouvy, Hans Vanbiervliet, and Jan Nivelle, are:

5-year olds

  • Jorinde Verwimp - Ulandro van de Kempenhoeve (BWP, by Kjento)
  • Kevin Laevens - Urianto van den Dries (BWP, by Escamillo)
  • Rob van Puijenbroek - Uno Begijnhoeve (BWP, by Le Premier Begijnhoeve)

6-year olds

  • Dominique D'Hoore - Van der Horst - Tsar van de Wolfshoeve (BWP, by Romanov)
  • Kara Bosman - Tais Tois et Sois Belle de Tamise (BWP, by Just Wimphof)
  • Jorinde Verwimp - Tap Dancer van het Genelaar (BWP, by Furst Jazz)

7-year olds

  • Heleen Schuurmans - Siljane van de Kampert (BWP, by Dante Weltino)
  • Domien Michiels - Sunnyboy van de Kempenhoeve (BWP, by Don Deluxe)
  • Pauline Leclerq - Magellan (SBS, by First Step Valentin)
  • Katrien Verreet - Souza (BWP, by Furstenball)

The second trial takes place in Hannuit on 7 July. Belgium is eligible to send two horses per age category.
