The Danish equestrian federation (DRF) has announced the team that will represent Denmark at the 2025 European Dressage Championships in Crozet the last week of August 2025.
Denmark is the 2022 World Championship gold medalist, 2023 European Champion team bronze medallist and 2024 Olympic Games silver medallist.
However, this year Denmark is in transition as two of Denmark's most experienced dressage riders are matched with two European Championship debutants for Crozet in the absence of routinier Nanna Skodborg Merrald and the non-selection of Carina Cassoe Kruth.
"The selections are based on the criteria described in the DRF's sports plans, and are based on observations and results at this year's national and international competitions, as well as ongoing dialogues with the riders, their personal trainers and the experts surrounding talent and elite work at this year's training sessions," the DRF stated.
The Danish team includes:
- Andreas Helgstrand / Jovian
- Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour - Mount St. John Freestyle
- Nadja Aaboe Sloth / Favour Gersdorf
- Rikke Dupont / Grand Galiano
- Reserve: Anna Toosbuy Rasch / Everian
"Rikke Dupont and Grand Galiano unleashed their potential at the recently concluded CDIO in Aachen that we have always sensed and followed since they first became part of DRF's perspective group in 2022. Therefore, the choice of Rikke for the European Championship team was a natural fit," said team leader Anne-Mette Binder.
The five riders and their grooms will meet with national team veterinarian Kristian Ringkjær, team manager Anne-Mette Binder, and expert trainer/technical advisor Wolfram Wittig for a bootcamp at Stutteri Blue Hors/Ask prior to their departure to France. On the agenda is, among other things, program riding as the final touch-up before their departure to France.
