The international Grand Prix horse Meggle's Boston has been retired from competition sport. The horse was celebrated in a special retirement ceremony at the CDIO Aachen.

Boston is a 19-year old KWPN stallion by Johnson out of Orpa (by Partout x Ulster). He is bred by Mr. Pleyter and also went by the name BB-King.

Famous Damline

Boston is bred out a famous Dutch dam line with dam Dolly also having produced Grand Prix horse Dolman (by Lord Leatherdale - Jordi Domino). Grand dam Dolly has produced the international dressage horses Just Mickey (by Michelangelo - Tinne Vilhelmson) and Totall Tip Top (by Metall - Alexa Fairchild).  From this line also come Moulijn (by Glamourdale - Peter Edmar), Finland (by Son de Niro - Kimberly Schiltz),

As a rising 3-year old Boston was presented for licensing at the pre-selection for the 2009 KWPN Stallion Licensing but did not complete the performance test and did not get his approved status for Dutch warmblood

Owned by a Belgian/Dutch syndicate consisting of Stable de Bekelaar, Serge Pais and WesTrade Stables, Boston was accepted for breeding by the Westfalian studbook.

At the start of his career, Boston was ridden by  Stefanie Dorr.

Three to Grand Prix

In 2010 Boston sold Toni and Marina Meggle at Georgihof in Wasserburg, Germany, where he was produced to Grand Prix level. He was initially intended for Dieter Laugks to ride, but it were three different riders who showed the horse at international Grand Prix level.

Laugks debuted the stallion at L-level in 2011 at regional shows in the area, but Hendrik Lochthowe took over the ride in 2012 and premiered him at M)level in the autumn of 2013. In 2014 the pair reached small tour level and competed on the Nurnberger Burgpokal circuit. In 2015 they moved up to Grand Prix and made their international show debut at the CDI Munich Indoors in November 2015, scoring 68.580%. The pair continued at Grand Prix level for two more years with starts in Nice, Donaueschingen, Odense, Stuttgart, Salzburg, Dortmund, Mannheim, Wiesbaden, Munich and Aachen.

Lochthowe left Meggle at the end of 2017 and Matthias Bouten took over. He debuted with Boston at the CDI Oldenburg in November 2018 and campaigned the horse at various internationals through September 2021. They represented Germany at the Nations Cup at the 2021 CDIO Rotterdam. They finished 13th at the 2021 German Dressage Championships.

Bouten left Meggle and assistant rider Juan Rodriguez Carvajal (ESP) slowly worked his way up as the number one rider in Meggle's barn. He got the ride on Boston as a schoolmaster and competed the horse, first in the Under 25 division at the 2022 CDI Kronenberg Indoor. As of 2023 Rodriguez was a senior and got the opportunity to gain plenty of mileage on the stallion at CDI's in Ornago, Hagen, Munich, Fot, Motesice, Salzburg, Compiegne, and Aachen. They scored a double victory in Fot in 2023.
