On the precipice of the 2025 World Championship for young dressage horses, Sweden and the U.S.A. have withdrawn their key horses from competition.

Severucci  HT

A big blow for Sweden as their bronze medal winning horse at the 2024 WCYH, Severucci HT, will not return to Verden to battle for a new medal.  Dressprod first published the news.

Severucci HT is a 6-year old Swedish warmblood stallion by Secret out of Riviera (by Rubinrot), bred and owned by Gabriella Grewin Bramberg of company  Absolut Dental AB. Under Jeanna Hogberg he was fifth at the 2023 Swedish Warmblood Young Horse Championships  and won the 2024 Swedish young horse championships. At the 2024 World Championships in Ermelo he picked up bronze.

Hogberg also rode half brother Fiorucci HT (by Florencio out of Riviera) to bronze at the 2016 WCYH in Ermelo.

There was no explanation from Swedish warmblood nor Hogberg why Severucci was withdrawn. Hogberg today confirmed that the stallion is being treated for a hoof problem.

America's highest scoring young horse this season, Onassis, travelled to Europe to compete in Verden, but had to be withdrawn last minute.

Onassis is a 6-year old KWPN-NA stallion (by Secret x Etoine), owned and bred by Al Guden at Hyperion Farm. Guden is Roffman's step father.  Roffmann and Onassis scored 80.00 and 80.20 in their first and only CDI show at the end of March. Onassis's national level high score was 89%.

"He pulled a shoe and when we put back in, the farrier gave him a close nail. Still can’t put a shoe in," Roffman told Eurodressage. "I’m so devastated. However I am relieved it’s not an injury or something serious. Just the worst timing of my life."
