Austrian Grand Prix rider Lisa Wernitznig has retired her number one ride, Quintus, from competition sport.
Quintus is a 17-year old Westfalian gelding by Quaterback out of Freya (by Florestan x Wachhorst). Bred by Rico Kleindienst from Bad Essen.
Up the Levels
The horse made its show debut back in 2011 under Frank Bogenschutz, but in 2012 Thomas Schulze took over the ride and competed him in a few A-level classes. In 2013 he did one L-level test and then sold at the 2013 Westfalian Spring Elite Auction in Munster-Handorf for 20,000 euro.
Under Isabell's supervision and owned by Madeleine Winter-Schulze, Quintus returned to the show ring in 2016 with her stable jockey at the time, Beatrice Buchwald. The pair contested some S-level classes in Ankum, Kaarst, Kempen and Isernhagen.
Isabell Werth
At the start of 2017 Werth took on the ride herself and debuted him in in the Louisdor Cup in Hagen in the Inter II (70.820%) to place fourth, but she did not ride him in the actual qualifier the next day.

Werth campaigned Quintus through 2019 with a CDI start in Salzburg to a 71.370% as first international Grand Prix score.
Lisa Wertnitznig
The ride on Quintus was then allocated to Werth's assistant rider, Austrian Lisa Wertnitznig.
She debuted him internationally at the 2021 CDI Hagen, during the European Championships, in September 2021. In 2022 they rode three CDI's in Compiegne, Ludwigsburg and Kronberhg, whole in 2023 they went to the Aachen festival and Troisdorf before contesting the Austrian European team selection trials in Achleiten.

After Achleiten the pair only did one more show, their final one, in Kerken, scoring 65.504% in the short Grand Prix and 74.844% in the S***.
Retirement
At that same show in Kerken, on Saturday 22 November 2025, a small retirement ceremony was held, where Lisa addressed the audience of her appreciation for the chestnut after her competition ride.
