Johan Venderbosch, the founder of the Dutch warmblood stallion station and brood farm De Radstake, has passed away on 17 December 2025. He was 85 years old.
His family announced the news on Facebook.
Born 10 December 1940, Venderbosch created one of the leading stallion stations in The Netherlands at his farm in Heelweg. He stood legendary stallion such as the thorougbred Pericles, Le Mexico and dressage sire Amor, who went on to stamp KWPN dressage horse breeding.
J.K Wiersma purchased the 1959 born Holsteiner stallion Amor (by Herrscher x Loretto) as a 3-year old in Germany and brought him to Holland, where he stood up for stud. In 1969 Venderbosch bought him and gave Amor, who was also known as Heros, a forever home at De Radstake. Amor sired 1450 KWPN bred jumping and dressage horses and he can be found in the dam lines of famous dressage horses such as Jazz, Barbria, Sister de Jeu, Inspekteur, Melvin V, Dollmann, Rambo, Thriller, etc.
In later years show jumping sires, such as Burggraaf, Cadmus and finally Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve were the pride sires of Venderbosch' station.
Johan owned KWPN mare champion Zaire (by Heartbreaker). Venderbosch was proclaimed KWPN Show Jumping Breeder of the Year in 2012.
Johan leaves behind his wife Gerrie, three children and seven grand children.
