Neversfelde Feuer, who competed at international Grand Prix level with with four different riders, has passed away. He was 31 years old.

He was a 1995 born Australian warmblood gelding by Flemmingh out of Trakehner mare Neversfelde Freude (by Coktail x Ibikus x Erzsand). He was bred by Jane and Maurice Bruce, who were some of the first  Australian breeders to use frozen semen.

Australia and Japan

The chestnut was first competed in Australia by his breeder and owner Maurice Bruce. Bruce is a pharmacist from New South Wales who first competed in advanced eventing before changing to FEI dressage and representing Australia at the 1994 WEG in The Hague on the home-bred Neversfelde Kensington (by Kassiber).

He trained and showed Feuer up to Grand Prix level. In 2005 the pair was B-squad listed in Australia, but Bruce sold Feuer into Japanese ownership in 2006.

Australian Kelly Layne took on the ride for owner Hisako Nishiura and competed him internationally in 2006 and 2007, including at CDI's in Balve and Fritzens. In 2008 Japanese Masanao Takahashi showed Feuer at the CDI's in Braunschweig and Dortmund.

Belgium

Feuer moved to Belgium and landed in Wim Verwimp's stable.

Wim showed Feuer internationally between the autumn of 2010 and the winter of 2011 with CDI starts in Saumur, Odense, and Zwolle.

Wim's daughter Jorinde, who was 16 at the time, began riding him in 2011 and competed him in the Under 25 at the CDI Saumur in April 2012. In 2013 she showed him in four national Grand Prix tests and one Intermediaire II in Belgium

Retirement

Neversfelde Feuer spent the rest of his days and retirement at Verwimp's yard.  On 4 March 2026 he passed away age 31.

Jorinde credited Feuer for being her "very first Grand Prix horse and the one who gave me my first real steps at that level when I was just 16. He truly started my career and taught me so much along the way. The ultimate schoolmaster and such a special soul. So grateful he made it to 31. Forever in my heart."
