Up until the last minute the starters field for the 2026 World Cup Finals in Fort Worth, TX, keeps changing. While the European horses have already crossed the Atlantic and are settled in at the venue in the Dickies Arena, the North American based field saw one of its participants withdraw.
Canadian Olympian Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu will not be competing Jill Irving's Dutch warmblood Jaccardo (by Desperado x Jazz).
Withdrawal
“Unfortunately, Jaccardo got cast in his stall earlier this week and isn’t quite comfortable enough to perform at his best, so we’ve made the decision to withdraw from the World Cup Final," Fraser explained. "While it’s disappointing to miss such a special event, his health and long term well-being always come first.”
Fraser qualified Jaccardo for the World Cup Finals by competing him on the 2025-2026 North American League circuit with CDI-W starts in Devon, Toronto, Ocala and Wellington.
This reduces the field for the Final to 16 starters instead of 18.
Jaccardo
Jaccardo was trained initially in The Netherlands by Saskia van Os. She successfully competed it as a young horse in The Netherland. He was 15th in the 2019 Pavo Cup Finals and the pair tried qualifying it for the 2020 and 2021 World Young Horse Championships, but didn't make the final cut.
In December 2021 the chestnut sold to Victoria Lunt for American Mary Bahniuk Lauritsen to ride. Lauritsen competed him at 2022 Dressage at Devon and in 2023 in two CDI's in Wellington and Ocala at small tour level.
In May 2023 Jaccardo sold to Jill Irving, who allocated the ride on the big chestnut to Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu. The new pair debuted internationally at small tour level in July 2023 at the CDI Rockwood, winning both classes. In 2024 they rode the medium tour tests and in 2025 won the Future Challeng in Wellington, before making their international Grand Prix debut in Bromont in August 2025.
