Equitaris reported that Bundeschampion pony Darf Ich Bitten  has passed away. He was a rising 7-year old.

Darf ich bitten was a 2019 born Westfalian stallion by Dallmayr K out of Die Kleine Liebe (by Der Feine Lord x Nobel). He was bred by Marion Gräfin von Stauffenberg.

Licensed Stallion

The stallion was accepted at the 2022 Westfalian Pony Stallion Liensing in Munster-Handorf and approved for Weser-Ems and Hessia soon after.

He did not do a performance test, but fulfilled his licensing obligations through sport.  He has 26 offspring registered for sport or breeding with the German equestrian federation, no sons were licensed yet.

Sport Career

Listed as owned by Silke Assenmacher in partnership with Gestut zu Morgenstern and gestut Burghof, the stallion made his show debut as a 3-year old in 2022.

Darf Ich Bitten was first competed by Tanja Fischer, who gold with him in the 3-year old stallion class at the 2022 Westfalian Young Pony Championships as well as at the 2022 Bundeschampionate.  Fischer rode him through 2023 and returned to Warendorf to win a second gold in the 4-year old stallion final.

In 2024 Darf Ich Bitten had two riders, first Julia Ralinofsky, who showed him in local competitions in the spring, while young professional Carolina Miesner took over in the summer and won silver with him at the 2024 Bundeschampionate. This was the pony's last show

Darf Ich Bitten did not compete beyond September 2024.

Untimely Passing

On 22 April the pony's passing was announced.

"“It is with a heavy heart that we must say goodbye. Terminally ill, we let him go – knowing that he has given us more than words can ever describe," Silke Assenmacher stated.
