The 2026 Asian Games are held on home turf in Tokyo, Japan, in September.
Based on the results of the riders in Europe and Japan, the selectors picked the following riders for the team.
The Japanese dressage team includes:
- Fumiyasu Nishiwaki - Furst William
- Shingo Hayashi - Kumbaya (reserve horse: King Leatherdale)
- Ryuma Hieda - Vagabond
- Akiko Yonemoto - Bombay Sapphire
The reserve rider will be Takumi Masumoto on Sydney.
For the first time dressage sport at the Asian Games will not be exclusively contested at small tour level but mixed teams of small and big tour combinations. However countries are allowed to send teams of only small tour combinations, which Japan has decided to do.
