Germany's shooting star pair of the year - Charlott Maria Schurmann and Dante's Pearl OLD - will not be competing at the 2026 CDIO Hagen, which is Germany's second and final WEG team selection trial.
The mare is "not fit to compete."
The FEI Nations Cup at Hof Kasselmann in Hagen replaces the traditional CDIO Aachen which is not taking place this year as the World Championships will be hosted at that venue one month later.
Based on results achieved at the first German WEG selection trial, the German Championships, team trainer Monica Theodorescu made her pick for the team for the CDIO Hagen, which was a potential team for Aachen based on performances next week.
Today the German equestrian federation stated, "One week before the Nations Cup at the Kasselmann family's farm, it's official: the eleven-year-old Dante Weltino daughter, Dante's Pearl OLD, is not fit to compete. It would have been the Oldenburg mare's Nations Cup debut with Charlott-Maria Schürmann in the saddle. Now, rider, national coach Monica Theodorescu, and team manager Klaus Roeser, together with team veterinarian Dr. Anna Rötting, have decided to withdraw her from the competition."
Raphael Netz and Great Escape Camelot will be stepping in as reserves. The pair ended up also being Germany's Olympic team reserves for Paris but then lost the spot due to a clerical issue. The next reserve in line is Tobias Nabben with Forster.
The Nations Cup will be decided next Friday, July 3, 2026, starting at 4:15 p.m. at the Covalliero Dressage Days in Hagen aTW. Admission to the event is free. Further information here.
