Hungarian Young Rider Antonia Richter Recovers from Major Health Scare

German based Hungarian young rider Antonia Richter is recovering from a major health scare that brought her on the brink of death. She is now recovering at home.

Brain Bleed

On 30 June 2026 a head ache turned out to be a brain bleed and she required brain surgery to save her life. 

"On June 30, 2026, my life was pressed to pause in an instant," Antonia stated. "The following 17 days were the toughest fight for my life. Over 10 days in intensive care, brain surgery, and countless hours of painful diagnostics and treatments during which it was completely uncertain whether I would even make it home."

Fortunately her health took a turn for the banner and Richter has returned home. She is "filled with gratitude and moved to tears."

The 21-year Richter lives in Germany and is based at riding stable Am Rothenbach. She declared for Hungary in 2023 through her mom's nationality. Antonia made her international show debut as a junior riderat the CDI Sint-Truiden in April 2023 aboard Fior da Liso (by Floribot x Donnerschlag). She competed at the 2023 European Junior Riders Championships in Kronberg, where she was 27th in the individual test.

In 2024 she moved into the Young Riders division and began competing Elvis (pedigree unknown) alongside Fior da Liso. The latter she showed at the 2024 European Young Riders Championships in St. Margarethen to finish 48th in the team test. She withdrew from the individual test. She became the 2024 Hungarian Young Riders Champion.

In 2025 she also showed young horse Riviera (by Riccinos x San Amour) internationally whole Fior da Liso went to Motesice, Mariakalnok and the Aachen Young Stars CDI.  Antonia moved Fior up to Under 25 level in 2026 with her first CDI start of the year in Pilisjaszfalu in June. She showed Rock Star (by Radisson x Rouletto) at young riders level.
