Australian team rider Bridget Murphy has withdrawn from competing at the 2026 World Para Dressage Championships.
The Australian Equestrian Team advises that Bridget Murphy has today withdrawn due to health reasons.
Bridget became unwell over the past few days and was admitted to hospital where she remains and is currently stable. Following ongoing medical assessments, she was advised today that she cannot compete.
"Our thoughts are with Bridget as she focuses on her recovery, and we wish her all the very best for a strong and speedy return to health," the Australian Equestrian Team posted.
This leaves Australia with three individual riders: Lisa Martin on Vilaggio, Mietta Innes-Irons on Sir Helmut, and Dianne Barnes on Tjibbe B.
Due to the withdrawal and the structure of Para Classifications, Australia will be unable to compete in the Team competition in Aachen. Australia will have the opportunity to qualify a team for LA28 Paralympics Games via the Oceania Paralympic qualification slot in 2027.
