In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Westfalian Association, the Munster auction team put together an interesting collection of Westfalian sport horses, ponies and foals that overall produced excellent results.
While many horses were sold back to the owners because of low prices, a large lot of horses sold for very high prices, which is quite unusual at the Westfalian auction in Munster.
Price highlight was the chestnut gelding Daily Pleasure (De Niro x Ehrenmarsch). Daily Pleasure sold to a dressage rider in Rhineland, Germany. The chestnut gelding was last year's winner of the German Dressage Derby.
Second highes price was paid for Riverdance, a Rohdiamant x Ehrentusch mare. Tony and Sarah Pidgley from Great Britain paid 145,000 euro for this elegant mover. Also selling to Britain was the third top horse Di Angelo. This black gelding was bred by Herbert de Baey (who also bred Rembrandt, Amon, Ahlerich, Royal Angelo) and is a De Niro x Royal Angelo offspring. A British dressage rider paid 115,000 euro for him.
The licensed stallion Mein Mein Märchenprinz (by Munchhausen x Popcorn) sold to Rhineland for 90,000 euro. This dapple grey sire was the winner of the 30-day stallion test. For the same amount of money the chestnut gelding Ferdinand (Feinsinn x Wonneberger) was sold to France. Ferdinand's new owner is Xavier Marie from Nantes, France, who also bought the second highest priced horse, Sonderburg, at the Vechta Elite Auction the day before.
Most expensive foal at the auction cost 14,500 euro which was paid for Full House, a bay colt by Future x Ehrentusch x Rosenkavalier. The foal sold to the Niedersachsen area. Most expensive pony was Napoleon (Norte Beau x Dschingis Khan x Nadler I). The gret gelding sold for 9,500 euro and stays in Germany.
The average price for a sport horse at this auction was 28,096 euro.
