It's bad karma for Trakehner stallions this week. After the passing of Enrico Caruso and Cosmopolit, another Trakehner licensed stallion died unexpectedly: Acartenango.
The black Russian bred Trakehner by Pogremok xx out of Gantel (by Eskadron x Glucher) became famous under two names. He started his career as a dressage horse as Garpun and was internationally competed by Russian Nina Menkova. Austrian Stefan Peter took over the ride round the turn of the century and renamed the horse Acartenango.
By the end of 2002 he had been a successful participant in several World Cup qualifiers. The highlights of his many achievements were the participation g in the 2001 European Championships in Verden and the World Championships in Rome (1998) and Jerez (2002).
In 2001 Acartenango started breeding and his first crop of foals in 2002 was highly praised. Standing at stud at Gronwohldhof in Germany, Acartenango suffered from a testicular hernia and passed away. He was 19-years old.
