British Aram Gregory went on a shopping spree at the Special Winter Auction of Oldenburg sport horses in Vechta, Germany, December 10, 2005. Gregory acquired the price highlight of the auction, Don Goliath, a Donnerschwee x Walldorf, for 45,000 euro and purchased three more young Oldenburg stars.
The second most expensive horse was Dezember Hit, a Diamond Hit x Titus x Adrian xx offspring, who sold for 74,000 euro to the United States.
The Iranian Taekwondo World Champion Hadi Saei bought the show jumper Piccadilly (by Power Light x Landadel) for 7,000 euro. The most expensive jumper in this auction was Lanzelot (Landor S x Zeus) who sold to Spain for 23,000 euro.
American Rick Silvia-Rockefeller, who is currently training with Karin Rehbein at Gestut Gronwohldhof, purchased the licensed stallion Starlight (Sandro Hit x Cordeur) for 40,000 euro, along with two other youngsters.
Jörg and Michaela Otte-Habenicht, presenters of the Florestan x Delphi who became the second Reserve Champion at the 2005 Westfalian Stallion Licensing in Munster, purchased the cute David (Donnerschwee x Rubinstein) for their daughter Sarah for 13,000 euro.
Thirty-seven dressage and show jumping horses were sold in total at the 2005 Special Winter Auction in Vechta. The total turnover was 575,200 euro and the average price for a horse was 15,545 euro. Almost 50% of the horses sold abroad.
