Dutch Stephanie Kooijman and Winston ranked fifth. The self carriage of 7-year old Winston should still improve considerably but the black has unlimited movement potential. What a star
Anne Meulendijks on Ohio. Though the rider leaned back in the saddle hanging onto the bit, Ohio showed tons of activity and expression in trot. The collected walk needed to be clearer in rhythm but the flying changes were super.
Jill de Ridder and Charmeur. Lovely pair but Charmeur is still very inconsistent in the contact with the bit. In trot he pushes himself high, in canter he gets deep. The trot was fluent though and the right walk pirouette tiny
Danish Nanna Skodborg Merrald has a big smile during the prize giving. She finished 8th aboard Millibar (by Milan) with 70.263%
Mieke Mommen and Rocky showed excellent trot work with great half passes and medium and extended trots. The judged were puzzled how to score the trot extension as it scored between 6 and 8.
Belgian Julie van Olst and No Problem finished 10th with 69.421%. Trained by Gudrun Schlack, Van Olst excelled in the trot extension. No Problem is an 7-year old Belgian bred mare by No Limit (by Balzflug x Belmondo)
Spanish Alexandra Barbancon and Mr Q (by Matcho AA) make an elegant pair showing good bending in all the corners and circles.
On Saturday afternoon heavy wind blew over the show grounds and affected the test of several riders, including Austrian Florian Lorenz who dealt with a tense and spooky Lancer's Lady (by Lancer II)
Belgian Eline de Coninck on Don Warohn (by Dormello) were unwavered by the wind. Very well regulated trot work with much relaxation. They showed one of the nicest simple changes. They finished 21st with 66.737 %
The Russians did suprisingly well at the 2010 European JR/YR Championships. Anna Balashova and Bonapart stood out with fluent trotwork, a decent walk and a nice contact with the bit.
Flowers everywhere at Schafhof, making this one of the prettiest venues ever to take photos of horses in competition!
Probably the ugliest saddle pad ever. This dark logo is supposed to suggest that the rider is competing for Belgium. Sponsor Lami Cell was more interested in marketing its own brand than providing a "Belgian" coloured pad.
