On the 12th July 2010, Susanne Miesner (Warendorf) was unanimously elected as the new vice-chairperson of the Xenophon Society for the Preservation and Promotion of Classical Riding Culture e.V. (Versmold), at its General Meeting in Aachen.
The election was necessary following the resignation of Dr Gerd Heuschmann (Dülmen) from the Board of Managers in June.
Xenophon Chairman Klaus Balkenhol (Rosendahl) paid tribute to Dr Gerd Heuschmann’s merits, as co-founder of the Xenophon Society, in particular with regards to his work on the explanation of the functional anatomy of the horse. His initiatives and seminars created international awareness of the importance of functionally correct riding.
However, in recent months it has become apparent that Dr Heuschmann’s opinions on practical riding and training methods differ significantly from those of the Xenophon Society. Furthermore, during his seminars, Dr Heuschmann was led into making statements which substantially contradict the principles of the Xenophon Society.
These growing divergences have finally resulted in the Board of Directors no longer being able to identify with the content of Dr Heuschmann’s seminars and practical demonstrations.
