The bay colt Fly (by Franziskus x Contendro x Sandro Song) became the top selling foal at the 2014 Hanoverian Foal Auction held on 16 August 2014 at the Hanoverian headquarters in Verden, Germany.
Klosterhof Medingen acquired the colt for 32,000 euro. Fly placed third at the 2014 German Foal Championships in Lienen a couple of weeks ago .
The second most expensive foal was colt Freak Blue (by Franziskus x Sorento). He sold for 31,000 euro.
The dressage bred foals were the best sold at the auction by far. Colt Danubio (by Dancier x Sandro Hit) sold locally for 28,000 euro. Bavarian clients bought Darios II (by De Niro x Stedinger) for 28,000 euro, Westfalian clients bought Damasco (by Dr. Watson x Rotspon) for 26,000 euro. Dutch buyers acquired Furst Aramis (by Furstenball x Sir Donnerhall) for 24,000 euro and Furst Foundation (by Foundation x De Niro) for 22,000 euro.
The most expensive show jumping bred foal was Locke Lordanos (by Lordanos x Goldfever) which sold to Belgium for 17,000 euro.
A total of 147 foals were sold at this auction and they achieved an average price of 8,368 euro. Forty-eight foals were purchased by foreign customers, the US lead the statistics with seven acquisitions, followed by the Netherlands with six foals andGreece, Italy and Russia each bought five foals.
Broodmare Saphira (by Soliman de Hus x Wesley) moves to New Sealand for 48,000 euro.
