Brightwells' first auction of elite dressage Horses held alongside the 2015 CDI 3* Addington on Saturday 21 March 2015 recorded a set of results highlighted by a record price for a dressage horse sold at a UK Auction. Donna became the record setting price highlight, selling for 165,600 euro.
Donna is a beautiful 7-year old Dutch bred mare by Uptown, which achieved a knock down price of £120,000. She was offered by first time vendors to Addington, Frans and Marion Koeman from Holland. The mare had been bred and produced by Marion to a high level and was selected with this sale in mind being attached to the CDI3* as she represented a lot of qualities as a Young Riders horse.
The 4-year old Dutch warmblood stallion Giovani (by Uphill x Welt Hit II) sold for 32,430 euro, while the 5-year old Dutch gelding Fernando (by Don Romantic x Laroche) sold for 31,740 euro.
The 4-year old Dutch bred gelding Giovanni B (by Apache x Vivaldi) sold for 28,980 euro and the 4-year old Westfalian licensed stallion Rockadel (by Rock Forever x Ferragamo) switched owners for 24,840 euro.
British pony team trainer and Grand Prix rider Peter Storr acquired the 5-year old For Season (by Fifty Cent x Voltaire).
Brightwells' Richard Botterill commented “It was important to try this new sale and although the clearance rate was not up to our usual results, it provided a shop window for meeting many new clients who were competing at the International, and this will hopefully benefit our sales later in the year in August and December.
A number of private transactions are ongoing, which are not included in the results.
