The Dutch Equestrian Federation has communicated that Dutch Grand Prix team trainer Wim Ernes has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour following an epileptic seizure right before Christmas.

The 57-year old Ernes suffered from an epileptic seizure and was rushed to the hospital one week before Christmas. On 30 December 2015 he was operated on for a swelling in his brain. The biopsy has revealed that the brain tumour is malignant and inoperable. Next week doctors will discuss treatment with Ernes.

At the moment the international 5* dressage judge is home in Schimmert, The Netherlands, with his wife Maud.

The Dutch equestrian federation has agreed to give Wim rest and quietness to prepare himself for his treatement and there will be no contact with the family.

"The KNHS staff, directors, workers and squad riders all wish Wim and his family much strength in coping with this bad news," the KNHS press officer communicated.
