It is uncertain whether Denmark will be staging a World Cup qualifier in 2017. The Danish Equestrian Federation wants to move the 2017 CDI-W Odense, the season opener for the 2017-2018 Western European League World Cup series, to Herning, but the all-systems-go has not yet been reached.
"We can not confirm on the World Cup in Herning before all the financial details are in place," the Danish federation told Eurodressage. "We we are working on a solution and hope that we have (good) news early next week."
Initially the Danish federation requested two changes: a move in venue from Odense to Herning as well as a change in the already approved date. The federation hoped to schedule the CDI-W Herning one week earlier on 12 - 15 October 2017 instead of 19 - 21 October, but those dates clash with the CDI3* Oslo.
The World Cup calendar for 2017/18 had already been approved with Odense in place, so the FEI Dressage Committee rejected the change of the new date. Risking to lose a Danish based world cup qualifier, the Danish federation came back and decided on hosting Herning on the original dates of 19-21 October 2017, but the finances are not yet in place.
The 2017 CDI-W Herning could be the first show of the season for the Western European League riders with the 2018 World Cup Finals taking place in Paris, France.
