Japanese Grand Prix rider Yoshitaka Serimachi has acquired the 14-year old Grand Prix horse Winnetou D in the Netherlands.
Winnetou D is a Dutch warmblood gelding by Obelisk out of Modena (by Itens). He is bred by W. van der Aa.
Leontien Raijmakers-Dings spotted Winnetou D as a foal, finding him as a 3-day old colt in a field after delivering a Jack Russel pup to a client. She bought him and trained him to Grand Prix level herself with the help of coach Bert Rutten.
Raijmakers competed Winnetou D mainly at national shows and only once did an international CDI, the 2014 CDIO Compiegne, where they scored 66.237% in the Prix St Georges and 62.316% in the Intermediaire I.
"I have gone through all the levels with this horse and together with my trainer Bert Rutten we got the maximum out of this horse," Leontien posted on Facebook. "Now it's time for me to focus on the young talent we have in the barn."
The 59-year old Serimachi, who is based at the Crane Riding Club in Nogi Machi, north of Tokyo, has been a long-time Grand Prix rider for Japan. He has previously competed at the 2002 World Equestrian Games on Rousseau, and then competed Michael Klimke's White Foot, Anky van Grunsven's Kir Royal, Ufo (previously shown by Yasuhiro Tsuyuzaki, Alvaro, and Intelleto.
