The 4-year old mare Karabella became the price highlight of the 2018 Oldenburg Spring Elite Auction in Vechta, Germany, on Saturday 7 April 2018. Mares were the flavour of the day and achieved the two highest sales prices of the auction.
Future star Karabella (by Zack x Sunny-Boy x Donnerhall) sold for 185,000 euro and will move to Dos Lunas Dressage in Sotogrande, Spain. This beautiful mare will became a stable mate of World Young Horse Championship finalist Sir Olli OLD. Kara Bella was bred and owned by Johann Kiep from Surwold, Germany.
The second most expensive horse was jumper mare La Marron (by Christian x Landor S x Argentinus). This 2017 Oldenburg Elite Mare Champion in the show jumping division in Rastede sold for 141,000 euro to Italy. She is bred by Elke and Franz Josef Herff from Herzogenrath, Germany, and was owned by Helmut Osterkamp.
The 2018 Oldenburg Saddle Licensing Champion Zac Efron (by Zack x Don Larino x Duntroon) became the third most expensive horse. Bred by Hermann Schildt and owned by Blue Hors stud, the bay stallion sold for 82,000 euro to Austria.
His licensed colleagues Le Roy (by Apache x Furstenball) sold for 80,000 euro to a German stable, while San Sebastian (by San Riant x Florencio) sold to Serbia for 45,000 euro. Extravagant (by Escolar x Florencio) fetched 40,000 euro.
The liver chestnut mare Belaja (by Bon Bravour x Donnerhall) was acquired by Germans for 97,000 euro. German customers paid high prices for young talent. The bay gelding Bippen Woods (by Bretton Woods x Al Martino) switched owners for 72,000 euro, while the grey stallion Borsody (by Bordeaux x Sandro Hit) stayed in the country for 54,000 euro. The dark bay mare Day by Day (by Destano x Argentinus) sold for 68,000 euro.
American customers paid 42,000 euro for the dark bay mare Fayence (by Franziskus x Dacaprio), Swedes purchased Fit for Fun (by Fiderbach x Licotus) for 44,000 euro.
More than half of the collection was sold abroad. Customers from the USA (7), Sweden (4), Austria (3), Switzerland (3), South Korea (3), Italy (2), Serbia (1) as well as Spain (1) acquired Oldenburg talent.
The average price of the horses was 43,682 euro.The licensed stallions sold for 61,750 euro on average.
