A foal upstaged the riding horses by becoming the price highlight of the 2018 Hanoverian May Auction which was held in Verden, Germany, on 5 May 2018.
The filly Vanellope (by Vitalis x Don Romantic) sold for 62,000 euro to a local buyer. Vanellope is bred by Gerda Stein.
Monsieur Lazhar (by Metall x Weltruhm) was the top-priced dressage horse. A French buyer paid 30,000 euro for him. The jumper Sailor Moon (by Stolzenberg x Graf Grannus) turned out to be the best-priced jumper. A well-known Canadian show jumping rider invested 27,000 euro in the bay horse out of the dam line of the Celle state stud stallion Perigueux.
Vardiello (by Vitalis x Abanos) sold abroad for 23,000 euro, Marmaduke (by Millennium x Donnerhall) fetched 20,500 euro, and Die Eiskönigin (by Dancing World x Sir Davoy) sold for 20,000 euro.
