Embolo Sets Top Price of 590,000 euro at 2022 Westfalian Autumn Elite Auction

The 3-year old gelding Embolo became the stunning price highlight of the 2022 Westfalian Autumn Elite Auction which concluded on 2 October 2022. They bay sold for 590,000 euro. 

The Westfalian autumn elite auction included a collection of 42 dressage horses and 16 show jumpers. Seventy-five percent of the collection sold to new owners. 

Embolo (by Escamillo x Detroit) sold for 590,000 euro to a group of owners and he will go to Jessica and Benjamin Werndl's stable in Aubenhausen. He is bred by Andrea Krehenwinkel and is out of St.Pr.St. Dressed in Black, who also produced the Westphalian Champion and Bundeschampionat finalist St.Pr.St. For Joy. To secure the horse, 144 bids from 26 customers were made online. Customers from Korea fought against customers from Germany to win the bid. The price of 590,000 euro became a new record paid for a riding horse at a Westfalian auction.

The second most expensive horse was Ernesto (by Ehrenstolz x First Selection), bred by the Ulmker family and ridden by Andrea Krehenwinkel's daughter.  He sold for 141,000 euro to a German buyer and will move into a box at Marcus Hermes' stable for training.

Baroness (by Benicio x Van Vivaldi), bred by Heinz Schütte and presented by Mathieu Beckmann, sold for 108,000 €. She is the 2022 Westfalian Elite Mare champion and sold to a local buyer. 

Fawad (by Franziskus x De Niro) sold for 82,000, while Zauberprinz (by Zoom x De Niro) went for  70,000 euro and Esben (by Escamillo x Sandro Hit) for 50,000 €. All three will stay in Germany. 

Moving abroad is the mare Zuckerpuppe (by Zoom x De Niro) who had the highest bid of 41,000 euro.

The most popular riding pony in the lot was the full brother of the 2021 Bundeschampion George. Glückspilz WE (by Hesselteichs Golden Dream x FS Cocky Dundee), bred by Tanja Schalkamp and owned by Willi Flaßkamp, sold to Belgium for 41,000 euro.
