She conquered the dressage arenas of the world with Valegro, she has won Olympic gold and World and European Championship titles. And even since the wonder gelding has been enjoying his well-deserved retirement, Charlotte Dujardin continues to expand her collection of medals with new horses.
In cooperation with the Equestrian Management Agency, the 38-year-old British dressage rider is coming to the Aachen Soers on 30 September for a live training session and will give insights into her proven training philosophy.
Most Successful British Dressage Rider of All Time
She is the most successful British dressage rider of all time, the world records she has set in the Grand Prix, Grand Prix Special and Grand Prix Freestyle are unbeaten through to this very day. However, Charlotte Dujardin is not only well-known for her great victories, but especially for her sensitive style of riding. The three-time Olympic gold medallist rides and promotes her horses in a very special way so that true partnerships arise.
With Valegro she advanced to the top rankings of the world elite in record time, walked off with all the gold medals at both of the international championships in the years 2012 to 2016. But that was just the start of a fairy-tale career, which Dujardin’s trainer and mentor, Carl Hester, has played a decisive role in. Together, the pair keep on schooling young horses up to top competition level. For example, Charlotte Dujardin surprised everyone in 2018 at the World Championships in Tryon (USA) with the then 9-year old Mount St. John Freestyle, when she finished third at the World Championships. At the Olympic Games in Tokyo (JPN) it was the 10-year old Gio, with whom the British rider piaffed onto the winner’s rostrum.
And last year at the World Championships in Herning (DEN), Charlotte Dujardin presented the next candidate from her top-class series of championship horses: the 9-year-old Imhotep. The Everdale son was also her sports partner at the CHIO Aachen in 2023. Together the pair came third in the Deutsche Bank Prize after obtaining a personal best score.
Dujardin Masterclass in Aachen
And directly after the sporting highlight of the year, the European Championships in Riesenbeck, Charlotte Dujardin will be returning to Aachen again. On Saturday, September 30th, dressage riders and fans will have the unique opportunity to learn from one of the best riders in the world – what’s more in the exclusive setting at the traditional showgrounds in Aachen.
The young mother will be giving insights into her daily work with her horses for the first time on German soil in the scope of a hosted live training session at the CHIO Aachen CAMPUS and she will show what she places particular importance on and which clever methods she uses to improve individual movements long-term.
“I love explaining what I do and how I do it,” said Charlotte Dujardin. “For me training each horse is a new exciting journey and that is also what makes my work so special.“ There will be four theme blocks in total: Warming up, Young Horses, Lections L to M and up to Grand Prix Level. In addition to different training sessions, this Masterclass also offers the perfect opportunity to get to know Charlotte Dujardin personally between 4 and 7.30 p.m. and take a look back on her career so far.
