Myrthe Wedda, a former Dutch international youth rider, has made a winning debut in the senior small tour division on a new horse, Kick-Off, at the 2023 CDI Leeuwarden on 20 - 23 October 2023.

The 25-year old Wedda has "kicked-off" her professional career with a bang riding for Anchor Excellent Stables in Woerden.

Through the System

Wedda made her international show debut as a pony rider in December 2013 in Roosendaal aboard Golden Sunlight MW, a 2007 born and Dutch Gypsy Cob and Drum Horse registered palomino with an unknown pedigree. She showed him at FEI pony level for one full season in 2014, gainung experienced at CDI's in Addington, Saumur, Compiegne, and Pompadour. Two years later she returned to the CDI ring as a junior rider with Diamond Geezer (by Diamond Hit x Krack C), who took her to Young Riders level in 2019 and into the Under 25 division in 2022.

The Ijsselstein based Wedda has now gone professional and is head rider at the stable of Dutch cheese mogul Jan Anker, who is best known as the co-owner of Dinja van Liere's Hermes.

Aboard Anker's 8-year old KWPN gelding Kick-Off (by Jazz x Negro) Myrthe finished 8th in the Prix St Georges with 69.755% and won the Intermediaire I with 68.471%.

The black Knock-Off was bought by Anker a year ago and is Myrthe's horse for the future.

"I'm very happy. This is my international debut and I did not expect this. Highlights in my test were the canter half passes and tempi changes. In fact, there was no real mistake, but everything can and should be better," said Wedda. "This is only the second Intermediaire I test we've done. Kick-Off is my horse for the future and he has a lot of talent for the collected work. Piaffe, tempi changes and pirouettes are his strong points. We still need to work a little on the passage."
