Five-star dressage with Christmas decorations. Three-star jumping competitions under the Christmas wreath. And the Hessian riders opening the extraordinary and traditional event under the golden and purple starry sky. The International Horse Show Frankfurt (IFRF) will once again bathe the Festhalle in its Christmas purple equestrian dress and will now celebrate its 50th anniversary edition from 13 to 17 December 2023!
Festive atmosphere in Festhalle
Meanwhile, preparations for the IFRF are in full swing to make Frankfurt's "Gudd Stubb" shine Christmasy and in festive splendour for the anniversary event. The event will open on Wednesday evening with a spectacular and varied anniversary show. "It tingles," admits tournament director Matthias Rath with a smile. "The whole team is tingling, everyone wants to be in the Festhalle and I prefer to be there twice: as organiser and rider."
Christmas Celebration
Anticipatory tingling is also getting ready for many children: On the one hand, those who are taking part in the traditional Cerberus Home Children's Competition and are already busy creating obstacles for the IFRF. And secondly, the children who can look forward to receiving one of the gifts from the Christmas tree raffle. Not to forget the children who, thanks to the Lila-Pferd Foundation, get help where help is urgently needed. Because the IFRF is not only a sporting highlight in the pre-Christmas season, but also an occasion to share this joy through great charity events and thus make children's eyes light up!
Action-packed programme
Eight international show jumping competitions with the Youngster Tour for 6-7-year-old horses, four world ranking show jumping competitions and the Grand Prix of Hesse presented by Deutsche Vermögensberatung AG. Felix Haßmann, among others, is a regular guest in the Festhalle: "Frankfurt is simply very well advertised for us show jumpers, also with the Youngster Tour for six- and seven-year-old horses, but first and foremost you like to come to Frankfurt because of the atmosphere and the mood - that is the most important thing."
Three five-star dressage competitions with the complete Olympic programme Grand Prix, Grand Prix Special and Grand Prix Freestyle. In addition, the finals of the two most important national dressage sport series for prospective top dressage horses, the NÜRNBERGER BURG-POKAL and the Louisdor Prize. Last year, there was no way around Isabell Werth and Emilio in the Grand Prix, who danced to 85.845 % in the freestyle. Who will lead the lap of honour this year?
Regional and international stars
Top-class sport with all its emotions is one thing, the other is the Hessentage itself. The organisational team of the Frankfurt tournament stables Schwarz-Gelb e.V. in cooperation with Schafhof Connects GmbH & Co KG has been cultivating Thursday as FRAPORT Hessentag for years - with regional stars, the best juniors, for selected club teams, up-and-coming show jumping professionals and with the crowd favourite, the show competition of the Hessian clubs. When the Hessian riding clubs with all their members and supporters transform the Festhalle into their special, colourful and exciting riding stage, the special IFRF feeling is palpable for everyone.
