The Indian owned Grand Prix horse Magnanimous has moved into training with German Olympian Helen Langehanenberg.
Magnanimous is a 12-year old Oldenburg stallion by Millennium out of Mabella (by De Niro x Plaisir d'Amour). He is bred by Hermann Stamereilers.
Ride for India
Magnanimous is owned by the Indian duo Jitendarjit Singh Ahluwalia and Shruti Vora.
Singh represented India at the 1980 Moscow Olympics as a 25-year old eventer, and went on to win bronze at the 1986 Asian Games in dressage.
Singh competed Magnanimous first at international small tour level at the 2022 CDI Lier and from there went to Opglabbeek and Hagen, before Vora took over and competed him at the CDI Troisdorf.
Shruti combined showing Magnanimous with her Grand Prix horse Denightron and on the latter she got selected to be the first female Indian rider to show at the World Championships in Dressage. At the 2022 World Championships in Herning she placed 81st with 64.534%.
After the World Championships Shruti returned to India to take care of her mother and celebrate the engagement and prepare for the big wedding of her son in April. Singh returned to riding Magnanimous at the end of 2022 and competed him in his first Grand Prix at the CDI Kronenberg Indoor.
After that the horse moved in training with Portuguese Joana do Vale in Germany, who campaigned him at the 2023 CDI Hagen. Sing was back on board for the CDI's in Neu-Anspach, Neustadt Dosse, Waregem, Troisdorf and Wroclaw last summer and autumn.
Helen Langehanenberg
Magnanimous has now moved in training with Helen Langehanenberg to be further established at Grand Prix level.
When asked if there are any competition plans, Shruti told Eurodressage that, "I leave that to her. She’s just such a fine rider and a person ! I feel lucky that she took Magnanimous."
With the reallocation of two Olympic team spots to the composite teams of Portugal and Finland, there is a chance for India to have secured a single individual slot for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The two most likely candidates in the running for that spot are the German based Anush Agarwalla and Shruti Vora.
"If the spot is there I’d definitely want to give it a fight," said Vora with a smile.
