Jazmin Yom-Tov Loses Career-Starting Grand Prix Horse Hexagon's Zodinde

Hungarian Grand Prix rider Jazmin Yom-Tov has lost her career starting Grand Prix horse, Hexagon's Zodinde, on 13 February 2024. She was 20 years old.

Zodinde was a 2004 born NRPS registered mare by Louisville out of Rodinde (by Rubiquil). She was bred by Leunus van Lieren.

Thamar Zweistra

Originally owned by Van Lieren in partnership with E. Janse, Zodinde was trained and competed up to Grand Prix level by Thamar Zweistra.

The pair made its international show debut at small tour level at the 2012 CDI Stadl Paura and competed at small tour level through 2014. They were fifth at the 2012 Dutch Small Tour Championships, fourth at the 2013 Dutch Indoor Small Tour Championship.

In 2015 they moved up to Grand Prix level with their big tour debut at the CDI Roosendaal. They campaigned at that level for two years through December 2016. They were fourth at the 2016 Dutch Indoor Grand Prix Championships and fifth in the consolation final of the 2016 Dutch Grand Prix Championships.

In 2017 Thamar finished twelfth in the first round of the 2017 Dutch Indoor Championships after which Dutch junior rider Amber de Groot took over the ride for one season and showed her at CDI's in Roosendaal, Pompadour, Diepenbeek and Waregem that year.

Jazmin Yom-Tov

In January 2018 Arie Yom-Tov bought the then 14-year old Zodinde as a schoolmaster for his daughter Jazmin.

Jazmin has gained her most significant miles at Grand Prix level aboard Zodinde. They premiered internationally at Under 25 Grand Prix level at the 2018 CDI Wiener Neustadt and went to the 2018 European Under 25 Championships in Exloo, where they were 23rd in the Short Grand Prix. A year later they finished 13th in the Kur to Music finals at the 2019 European Under 25 Championships in San Giovanni (ITA). They rode their third consecutive European Under 25 Championships in 2020 on home turf in Pilisjaszfalu, and were 10th in the Kur. The combination was trained by former Dutch team trainer Sjef Janssen at the time.

At national level Jazmin and Zodinde finished fifth at the 2018 Hungarian Grand Prix Championships and fourth at the 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix Championships.

Untimely Passing

Zodinde was retired from top level sport at the end of 2020 and produced a foal in 2023, SPH Volare (by Vivalicor)

Zodinde unfortunately passed away ununexpectedly on 13 February 2024 from presumed cardiac arrest.

"You put me on the map of dressage, you took me to my first international U25 win, you took me to two (sic three) European champions(hips) earning me a 13th and a 10th place, taking me to my dream competitions and I could go on… it was way too early for you to go and I still can’t quite understand it. The uncountable memories will stay with me forever closest to my heart."
