Philippe Maynier's retired international Grand Prix horse Nashville has passed away. Dressprod first reported the news.
Nasvhille was a 30-year old KWN gelding by Farrington out of Fardiyah (by Doruto). He was bred by H Dielissen in Uden, The Netherlands
Grand Prix Horse
Nashville sold to Maynier as a 3-year old in 1998 as a successfor for his top ride at the time, Riesling.
The pair made its national show debut in 2001 and reached small tour level in 2003. They showed at CDI's in Saumur and Pompadour in 2004. They moved to Grand Prix level in 2005 with the help of Belgian trainer Mieke Lunskens.
Grand Prix
The competed at national shows first before tackling their first and only French Grand Prix Championship in 2005. They won bronze. They contested the 2005 CDI Saumur and 2005 CDI-W Mechelen.
Their highlight year in 2006 led them to Vierzon and CDIO Rotterdam and being short-listed for the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen, but they did not get back.
Injury
"Nasvhille injured his cannon bone, which required surgery and a year off," Maynier told Dressprod. "After his rehabilitation, physically he was fine but he was in fact no longer the horse I knew, so at the end of 2007 I ended his sport career."
Maynier last competed internationally as a rider in 2007 in Vierzon with Donna Sunshine. He currently works as Dressage Sports Manager for the FEI.
