The 9-year old Trakehner stallion Kwahu has been sold to Georgia and moved to Spain to be a schoolmaster for a junior rider.
Kwahu is a 2016 born stallion by Millennium out of Kalinowska (by Munchhausen x Sixtus). He is bred by Ines Eisold.
Premium Stallion
Kwahu first came into the spotlight when he sold as a foal at auction at the 2016 Trakehner Stallion Licensing for 80,000 euro. He was named Konstantin at the time and was an orphan foal. He sold to Polish born German dressage rider Anna Nolte of Hofgut Rosenau in Dreieich.
The colt got a new name and presented as Kwahu at the 2018 Trakehner Stallion Licensing, but dropped out after the phase on hard surface due to a hoof abscess. At that time he was listed as owned by Gestut Sprehe. They re-presented him at the Trakehner Late licensing in January 2019 and was named premium.
He did his 14-day stallion suitability test in Schlieckau in May 2019 and scored 7.7 for dressage and 7.55 for show jumping. At his sport test in Munster-Handorf in January 2021 he scored 7.57 points.
In 2022 Kwahu twice sired the Trakehner foal auction price highlight: Save the Date and Kinshasa.
Sport Career
Kwahu sold again and became listed as half owned by Wolfgang Diehm and half by Margit Eisner.
In 2020 Laura Strobel was riding the stallion but in October 2021 the stallion moved in training with Helen Langehanenberg. She first presented him to the public at the gala evening of the 2021 Trakehner Licensing.
In January 2022 the pair made its show debut in Ankum and Helen rode him in a few shows at M-level the 2022 show season. They also tried to get selected for the German team for the 2022 World Young Horse Championships but were not picked by the selectors.
In January 2023 it was announced that Kwahu came in full ownership of Margit Eisner. Langehanenberg continued to train and compete the stallion at national level. In 2023 she moved him from M to S-level and in 2024 stayed at small tour level with the stallion and rode him in his first and only CDI so far, in Neumunster. They were second in the Prix St Georges (69.853%) and eighth in the Inter I (66.733%). She rode him in the Nurnberger Burgpokal qualifier in Balve and their last show was on 6 March 2025 in Ankum.
Move to Spain
Dressprod reported that Kwahu has now found a new rider, Russian born Georgian rider Mariam Gurtskaya, who is based in Spain with Lauro Aguilo.
Gurtskaya made her international debut as a children and pony rider in 2021 at the CDI St. Petersburg aboard 11-year old German Riding pony Bonifacio (pedigree unknown) and Steendieks Champ of Glory (by FS Chambertin x The Breas My Mobility). She competed for Russia at the 2021 European Pony Championships. A three year break from CDI showing followed and in April 2024 Mariam returned to the CDI ring, riding for Georgia, at the CDI Madrid. She finished the year at the 2024 European Pony Championships in Opglabbeek, where she was 32nd in the individual test (67.243%) on Champ of Glory.
The 16-year old Mariam sold her pony to Spaniard Inigo Epelde Carrillo, and she now moves to junior level with Kwahu. Their debut is set next week at the CDI Jardy.
