As one of the first professional female photographers in the equestrian business, Mary Phelps captured a notorious position on the equestrian scene. Considered to be the best dressage photographer in the US, Mary often covers magazines and shoots for horse owners, breeders and riders, however she prefers using her imagination which, time and time again, results into top level articles for her web site http://horsesdaily.com.
Besides photography Mary is also a certified insurance agent for the American Bankers Insurance Group. Together with her husband JJ Hathaway, Mary covers the largest equestrian shows in the world, ranging from the North American Young Riders Championships to the Olympic Games. While JJ handles the videography, Mary captures exclusive pictures on film.
In the two years that Mary and JJ have been my partners, they have offered me so much; an amount of wisdom which I will never be able to return. Positive thinking, professionalism and business strategies were mentored to me through these Florida residents. Even more, thanks to our personal encounters in Denver, Colorado (NAYRC 98), Arnhem, Bad Honnef and at our own barn, Mary passed on her passion for photography (and perfection) to me.
