Two new stallions have been boarded at Anky van Grunsven's training facility in Gemert, The Netherlands. Osmium and Redford are Anky's latest additions to her farm
, but both stallion had to undergo a two-week trial period before Van Grunsven made up her mind to accept them.
Redford is a KWPN licensed breeding stallion by Krack C x Ferro. The black 4-year old was already a flamboyant appearance at last year's licensing. More interesting is the acceptance of Osmium to Van Grunsven's training barn. Osmium, a 6-year old Ferro x Calypso I descendant, won the Pavo Cup and KWPN/NHS Stallion Competition under Nicolet van Lierop. However, Osmium's owners realised that the label of Anky van Grunsven as Osmium's trainer/rider is more impressive on their stallion's resumee than that of Van Lierop, and therefore decided to spend the huge amount of money to put Osmium in training with the Van Grunsven/Janssen duo.
The Swedish Mattias Janson will be presenting Osmium at the upcoming stallion show, but Anky will soon be taking over the training. Both Anky and Sjef were very pleased with the potential of the two stallions. "They are very temperamental and have a nice character to work with. We expect much of them," Van Grunsven said.
