On Wednesday April 4, Claudia Harper's mare Cinderella underwent surgery in Germany to remove a malignant growth from under her right eye. The tumour had grown to a length of 8.5 cm. The surgery appears to have been successful

but the results of further test are still to come.

The Hanoverian Carbid mare was doing well when Matthew Dowsley visited her in the morning after the operation. Cinderella was happy to see him and seemed to be coping well. She is being well looked-after in the veterinary hospital in Hagen in the Teutoburg Forest and certainly has not lost her appetite. Cinderella is now on special medication that is also used in human cases of this nature.

Matthew was very relieved and happy about Cinderella's condition. He is looking forward to riding the mare again when the healing process has advanced enough to make this possible. According to Dowsley, Jürgen Koschel's stables are certainly a great place to be and the training and support he is receiving there is first class.

Matthew is still upset, however, that he and Cinderella are not able to participate in the World Cup Dressage Final in Las Vegas in a couple of weeks, especially as the judges' comments after their performance in the s'Hertogenbosch freestyle had been so encouraging.
