The Danish Olympic Team Horse Uffe Korshøjgaard has passed away at age 24. The Oldenburg stallion suffered from old age and died last weekend, owner Blue Hors stud reported.
Uffe was born at the Korshøjgaard farm (now Blue Hors) on 21st May 1985 and was by Claudie Damsgaard out of Nelly (by Kalpak xx x Oberst). He was sold as a foal and again as a 2-year old to Barbro and Lorenz Linnet of brood farm Solos. His breeding and dressage career started there and in 1993 he sold back to Blue Hors stud. Uffe Korshøjgaard sired 356 registered offspring.
Uffe was the first horse to give national and international fame to the biggest breeding farm of Denmark. Under head rider Lars Petersen, Uffe Korshøjgaard won the Danish Championships in 1995 and 1996. He finished 7th in the 1996 World Cup Finals and was a finallist at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, where they finished 12th individually.
Uffe's rider Lars Petersen, who now lives in Florida (USA), visited Uffe just a few days before he died last weekend.
